That he tried to bring someone he cared about back from the dead. He mixed soil and human entrails to make a figure, and communicated with a light - my perceptions were limited, because it seemed almost like being in the dark of space. Nothing to anchor us solidly. Perhaps this streak of light might appear differently in a different dimensional space- although that's only speculation on my part. I could only hear his words, no audible response from the light, but there was a deal. It gave him a flower, which he placed on the soil figure, and then he sang a song. I remember a fragment, if it's significant.
Whatever transpired, it gave life to this soil creature. It sat up and called him master. He was bitterly disappointed, because he had hoped for a loved one.
Based on information from others, it's possible that what I witnessed was the creation of Friday. [Thank you Natsuno!] However, this obviously isn't my area of expertise. Does it sound familiar to you, that kind of attempt to reverse time and entropy to revive the dead?
[After a few moments, he sends a more detailed text.]
At the very least, it sounds like a version of the exquisite corpse. This is Seventh House territory, and far outside my area of expertise. The Seventh is keenly interested in the moment of death: as a source of thanergenic power, and inspiration for poetry, and a bodily process. They say they can maintain a corpse as construct, and though I have never heard of a Seventh House necromancer building a corpse from earth and viscera, it may be theoretically possible.
Usually? The corpse would explode. It's a common battlefield tactic, a Fourth House speciality.
But if you directed the energy carefully enough and could maintain the thanergenic connection, you could reanimate the body. I've seen it done before--not the reanimation itself, but the exquisite corpse in action. He was kept mobile by one of the most powerful necromancers I've ever met, and yet he still began to fall to pieces after a couple of weeks.
I wonder if the problems with keeping the reanimated body stable would be addressed if an artificial construct were used as the exquisite corpse, in place of an actual body. If the flower I saw acted as a kind of power cell, or regulator of energy.
I know that's probably even further outside your field. I'm just trying to make sense of this.
No apology necessary. It's an interesting theory. Not all of the Captain's abilities align with necromatic principles, but there are enough parallels that I find they make for a useful starting place, particularly if one is willing to get creative.
I will investigate. If we can prove that it's possible, at least on a small scale, that might give us some insight into the relationship between Friday and the Captain.
You're welcome. It's very refreshing to find others who want to make logical sense of this, I'll say that much. I'm interested in finding the truth, whatever it may be.
Is there any way I might assist with your investigations?

It was a crudely made thing, but if it really was Friday, he must have found a way to refine her later.
What would happen if one infused an ordinary corpse with a great burst of thalergy?

That's a disturbing sort of biohazard.
