Took another picture of the captain. It's still distorted even though this time I couldn't see the void. I tried to take a video and the noise was so loud it ruined the speakers.

How awfully strange. I'm afraid I don't know a thing about photographs, so I can't tell you what would cause such a thing to happen, but I'll hold onto this for our records.
Wait. Did you just...walk up to bridge and knock on the door?
He materialized out of a shadow and struck a pose when I took his picture. When I asked him to speak for the video he said "why bother", so I think he's not corrupting it on purpose, it just happens. I left right after filming the video. Didn't see a reason to stick around and talk to him.
